The Only Free Platform for Live FII & DII Data with AI Analysis and Cumulative Charts

OptionX is the only free platform with live FII & DII cash flows, cumulative charts, F&O positioning, participant-wise OI, and AI-generated daily market analysis — all updated after market close.

Why FII & DII Data Is Hard to Find Online — Until Now

If you've ever tried to find clean, actionable FII and DII data online, you know how frustrating it gets. Most platforms bury a raw table three clicks deep, strip out any context, and offer no charts, no trend view, and definitely no analysis. OptionX changes that entirely — and it's completely free.

The FII & DII Activity dashboard on OptionX pulls together everything institutional traders track in one place: daily and cumulative cash flows, futures open interest by participant, options positioning, and an AI-generated market summary — all refreshed after every trading session.

What Is FII & DII Activity in the Indian Stock Market?

FII (Foreign Institutional Investors) — now also called FPI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) — are overseas entities such as mutual funds, hedge funds, pension funds, and sovereign wealth funds investing in Indian equities and derivatives. When FIIs buy, foreign capital flows into India. When they sell, it flows out.

DII (Domestic Institutional Investors) include Indian mutual funds, insurance companies, banks, and financial institutions. DIIs largely run on domestic SIP inflows, which makes their buying far more consistent and less sensitive to global macro shocks than FII activity.

Their daily net flows — tracked on NSE and BSE after market close — are the primary gauge of institutional sentiment. Since FIIs hold significant stakes in Nifty 50 and midcap stocks, large FII outflows often directly precede index corrections. Consistent DII absorption of that selling has been the main stabilising force in Indian markets over the past three years.

Live Cash Market Flows — Daily and Cumulative Charts

The Cash Market tab shows net FII and DII buying and selling in the equity segment. You can view data for any period — daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom date range — rendered as a grouped bar chart with a net overall activity line overlay.

But the real differentiator is the cumulative chart. Instead of viewing one day in isolation, the cumulative view shows the running total of FII and DII flows over your selected period. This reveals structural trends that daily charts completely miss:

  • A sustained 45-day FII outflow that's now beginning to reverse
  • DIIs consistently accumulating over three months while FIIs sell
  • A sudden inflection where both FII and DII turn net buyers simultaneously

No other free platform in India offers a cumulative FII/DII flow chart. NSE and BSE publish static PDFs. Other data aggregators show you the last day or last week at best. OptionX gives you up to 365 days of flow data, cumulative and daily, in an interactive chart you can zoom and filter by date. This alone makes the dashboard worth bookmarking.

Futures and Options Positioning Data by Participant Type

Cash market flows tell you what institutions did in equities. F&O positioning tells you what they're betting on going forward.

The Futures tab breaks down net open interest across all four participant categories — FII, DII, PRO (proprietary desks), and CLIENT (retail + HNIs) — for index futures and stock futures. You can see whether FIIs are net long or net short on Nifty, BankNifty, and FinNifty in both quantity and ₹ Crore terms. Charts show how this positioning has evolved over your selected date range.

The Options tab shows the same breakdown for options open interest — helping you understand whether institutions are hedging portfolio risk, speculating on direction, or writing premium against existing positions. FIIs going net short in options is often a hedge, not a directional bet. Knowing the difference matters.

AI-Powered Market Analysis — Generated Fresh Every Trading Day

This is where OptionX goes beyond every other data platform. After market close each trading day, Claude AI analyses all three data streams together — cash flows, futures positioning, and options OI — and generates a plain-English market summary.

Every daily AI summary includes:

  • The headline market sentiment (Bullish / Bearish / Neutral)
  • What FIIs and DIIs actually did in the cash market and why it matters
  • How their F&O positioning aligns — or diverges — from their cash activity
  • What the combined picture suggests about institutional intent for the near term
  • Notable shifts or reversals compared to recent sessions

No other free platform does this. Paid institutional data services charge ₹2,000–₹5,000 per month — and even they don't include AI-generated daily analysis synthesising all three datasets into one readable summary. On OptionX, this runs every trading day, for free.

Participant-Wise Open Interest: FII, DII, PRO, and CLIENT

Participant-wise OI is the breakdown of total futures and options open interest across the four key market participants. Positive net OI means net long positions; negative net OI means net short.

  • FII: Foreign funds — their index futures positioning is the most watched metric for market direction
  • DII: Domestic institutions — generally less active in derivatives, often use options for hedging
  • PRO: Proprietary traders (broker books) — often contrarian, quick to reverse positions
  • CLIENT: Retail and HNI traders — historically tend to be on the wrong side of large moves

OptionX renders this data as interactive charts so you can visually track how positioning has shifted over time. A sharp buildup in FII long positions in index futures, or a sudden spike in CLIENT short OI that historically precedes reversals — these patterns are far easier to spot on a chart than buried in a table.

How to Use FII DII Data for Trading Decisions

Here's a practical framework for interpreting institutional flow data:

  • FII buying cash + FII net long futures → Strongest bullish signal. Institutions are positioned for upside in both cash and derivatives.
  • FII selling cash + FII net short futures → Double bearish pressure. Market likely to remain under stress.
  • FII selling + DII buying heavily → Mixed but stabilising. Domestic flows absorbing foreign outflows, index may hold support.
  • All four participants net long → Rare but extremely bullish. Market has broad institutional support.
  • CLIENT net short + FII net long → Classic contrarian signal. Retail positioned wrong while smart money is long.

Cross-reference daily signals with the cumulative chart. If FIIs have been net sellers for 30 days cumulatively but the pace is slowing, that's an early reversal signal worth watching. If DIIs have accumulated consistently for weeks while FIIs sell, it shows strong domestic conviction that limits downside risk.
