Quick Verdict
915 by Groww and OptionX are both designed for the same audience — active F&O traders in India who want faster execution and smarter tooling. But they represent fundamentally different product philosophies about what a professional trading terminal should be.
The Core Difference
915 is a broker terminal. It lives inside the Groww ecosystem — same demat account, same funds, same brokerage. The terminal itself is free, and the trade-off is that you are fully committed to Groww as your broker. 915's execution and analytics are oriented around single-instrument scalping and straddle trading workflows.
OptionX is a broker-agnostic professional trading terminal. It connects to 19 brokers via OAuth API and charges a separate monthly subscription (Rs. 999–3,999). Your brokerage stays with your existing broker. The platform is purpose-built for multi-leg options strategy execution, combined-premium spread trading, and portfolio-level risk management.
What Is OptionX?
OptionX is a professional options trading terminal for active Indian traders. It connects to your existing broker via OAuth API — your funds and demat account stay with your chosen broker. OptionX charges a monthly subscription of Rs. 999 (Lite), Rs. 1,999 (Pro), or Rs. 3,999 (Elite) on top of your broker's brokerage.
The platform is purpose-built for options strategy execution: a combined-premium spread ladder, MTM Profit Protection with portfolio-level trailing, GROT grid automation, a price ladder (DOM) for order flow analysis, and 16 configurable widgets on a single-screen setup. Paper trading with Rs. 5 Cr in virtual funds is free forever on all plans.
What Is 915 by Groww?
915 (pronounced nine-fifteen) is Groww's standalone professional trading terminal for experienced F&O traders. It is a web-based platform available at 915.groww.in that requires a Groww demat account. If you already trade on Groww, you sign in to 915 with the same credentials — no separate account setup required.
915's interface is a modular blank canvas where you assemble widgets: a dynamic option chain with live Greeks and OI, a straddle chart with live and historical candlestick data, a Pro Scalper widget for rapid keyboard-based execution, TradingView-powered charts with trade-from-chart functionality, and real-time P&L monitoring. The terminal itself is free — you pay only Groww's standard F&O brokerage of Rs. 20 per executed order.

Options Analytics
Both platforms provide a live options chain with real-time Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega) and OI data. 915's option chain integrates your open positions directly within the chain view alongside a built-in multi-leg payoff graph for risk-reward visualisation before execution. OptionX includes an options chain with full Greeks and a strategy builder with payoff diagrams.
915's straddle chart is its standout analytical feature: live candlestick data for ATM straddles across Nifty, Bank Nifty, and Sensex, with historical straddle trend data for price action analysis. OptionX does not offer a dedicated straddle chart widget. For straddle traders, this is a genuine edge for 915.
OptionX provides a dedicated IV (implied volatility) chart widget and FII/DII data at the dashboard level. 915 includes OI within the option chain but does not offer a standalone IV chart or market breadth data. Both platforms offer TradingView-powered charting with full indicator libraries.
Execution and Order Management
915's primary execution model is trade-from-chart combined with the Pro Scalper widget. The Scalper widget displays ATM and near-ATM call and put options, supports instant order placement via keyboard shortcuts (Shift+B to buy, Shift+S to sell), and includes an Exit All button for rapid position closure. Basket orders handle multi-leg entry for spreads and hedged positions. Order types include bracket orders, SL-entry, OCO, and GTT (Good Till Triggered, valid up to one year).
OptionX's most distinctive execution feature is the combined-premium spread ladder — it lets you define a spread by its total net premium (debit or credit) and execute both legs simultaneously at that combined price, rather than managing each leg independently. This is critical for options sellers and spread traders who think in terms of net premium received or paid. 915 does not have an equivalent. OptionX also includes a price ladder (DOM) for order flow analysis at the tick level, a feature 915 does not offer.
Both platforms support keyboard shortcuts and single-click order entry. For directional scalping and straddle execution, 915's keyboard-based Scalper widget is well-optimised. For spread and multi-leg strategy execution, OptionX's combined-premium ladder is the superior tool.
Risk Management
At the per-position level, both platforms are comparable. Both offer auto trailing SL and SL/TP targets on entry — OptionX through its bracket order and auto-SL system, 915 through bracket orders with automatic SL triggers. Partial exits are supported on both.
The meaningful gap is at the portfolio level. OptionX's MTM Profit Protection sets a cumulative MTM profit or loss threshold across all open positions and auto-exits at that level — or trails the exit target upward as your portfolio MTM rises. For options sellers and multi-leg strategy traders managing basket risk, this is a critical risk control. 915 has no equivalent portfolio-level MTM stop or trailing profit target.
OptionX's kill switch exits all open positions simultaneously across all legs — not just pausing new orders, but actually squaring off the entire book in one action. 915 has an "Exit All" button within the Pro Scalper widget, but this is scoped to positions visible in the scalper context and does not function as a true portfolio-wide kill switch.
Automation
915 does not include built-in automation within the terminal. There is no graphical strategy scheduler, grid order builder, or breakout-triggered automation inside 915. Groww offers API access at Rs. 499/month for developers and quantitative traders who want to automate strategies via code — but this requires external development.
OptionX includes GROT (Grid Order Trading): a built-in automation tool that executes layered buy or sell grids at defined price intervals without any coding. Index-level triggered orders that fire automatically on breakout or reversal conditions are also available directly in the terminal. For traders who want automation without writing code, OptionX provides this natively. API access is available for advanced users who want to extend further.
Paper Trading
OptionX paper trading is free forever on all plans. You get Rs. 5 Cr in virtual funds with no time limit. The paper trading environment mirrors the live terminal exactly — same order types, same combined-premium spread execution, same MTM risk controls, same GROT automation. You can test your full strategy workflow before committing real capital.
915 does not offer a paper trading mode within the terminal. The platform is designed for live trading only. Groww's main app has a virtual trading feature, but this does not carry over to 915. If you want to test 915's execution workflow without risk, there is no native way to do so within the platform.
Want to trade the OptionX way? Get combined-premium spread execution, portfolio-level MTM Profit Protection, GROT automation, and free paper trading with your existing broker. No need to switch accounts or move funds.
Try OptionX FreePricing: Free Terminal vs Subscription Terminal
915's pricing is straightforward: Rs. 0 for the terminal, Rs. 20 per executed F&O order (Groww's standard flat brokerage), zero account opening fee, and zero AMC. For a trader executing 100 F&O orders per month, total brokerage cost is Rs. 2,000. The terminal adds nothing on top. API access for algo trading is Rs. 499/month separately. This is one of the most cost-efficient setups for active F&O traders in India.
OptionX charges a monthly subscription of Rs. 999 (Lite), Rs. 1,999 (Pro), or Rs. 3,999 (Elite) on top of your existing broker's brokerage. Paper trading is free with no subscription required, and a 7-day live Pro trial is available. For an OptionX Pro user on Zerodha executing 100 F&O orders per month, total all-in cost is approximately Rs. 4,000–5,000 (Rs. 1,999 subscription plus Rs. 2,000–3,000 in brokerage). OptionX's higher cost reflects its specialised toolset for multi-leg strategy execution and portfolio risk management that goes beyond what any broker's own terminal provides.
Broker Support
915 is exclusively available to Groww account holders. There is no multi-broker support. If you currently trade on Zerodha, Upstox, Dhan, Fyers, or any other broker, you cannot access 915 without opening and funding a Groww demat account. For traders deeply invested in a non-Groww broker relationship — whether for brokerage rates, existing holdings, or margin facilities — this is a significant constraint.
OptionX connects to 19 brokers: Zerodha, Upstox, Fyers, Dhan, Angel One, Kotak Securities, IIFL Securities, Flattrade, AliceBlue, Rupeezy, Choice, Jainam, MStocks, and more. You keep your existing broker, your existing account, your existing margin facility, and your existing brokerage relationship. OptionX adds the execution and risk layer on top.
Final Verdict
915 by Groww is a genuinely well-built terminal for its target audience: active scalpers and straddle traders who already have a Groww account. The modular widget canvas, live straddle charts with historical data, Pro Scalper with keyboard shortcuts, TradingView charts with trade-from-chart, and basket orders are solid tools for directional scalping and straddle-based F&O workflows. At Rs. 20 per order with zero terminal fees, the all-in cost is among the most competitive for active traders in India.
OptionX is built for a different level of trading complexity. Combined-premium spread execution, MTM Profit Protection at the portfolio level with trailing, a true portfolio kill switch, GROT grid automation, index-triggered orders, a price ladder (DOM), and lifetime free paper trading are capabilities 915 does not currently offer. For options sellers, spread traders, and position managers dealing with multi-leg strategies and portfolio-level risk, these are not optional features — they are the core of a professional workflow.
The decision comes down to your broker, your strategy type, and your trading complexity. If you are a Groww customer who primarily scalps single options legs or trades ATM straddles, 915 is a high-quality, zero-cost terminal upgrade worth exploring. If you trade options strategies across multiple legs, manage portfolio-level risk, need multi-broker flexibility, or want to practice with a full paper trading environment before going live, OptionX is built for that workflow.
Start with OptionX's 7-day Pro trial to test combined-premium execution and MTM risk management against your current workflow. Free paper trading with Rs. 5 Cr in virtual funds is available from day one, with no credit card required to start.
