Average price is based on your entered buy prices only and excludes brokerage and statutory charges. For all-in cost, use the Brokerage Calculator. For information only — not investment advice.
When you buy the same share more than once at different prices, your average cost is simply the total money invested divided by the total number of shares.
Formula
Average price = Total amount invested ÷ Total shares
Example: 100 shares at ₹200 (₹20,000) + 100 shares at ₹150 (₹15,000) = ₹35,000 across 200 shares = ₹175 average.
Averaging down
Buying more after a price drop lowers your average and your break-even, but raises your exposure to a falling stock.
Break-even
Your average price is the level the stock must reach for your position to be at zero profit or loss (before charges).
Excludes charges
This shows the market average only. Brokerage, STT and other charges raise your true cost — factor them in separately.
